Wonderful building. A real fashinating "former luxury hotel".
The dirtiest hotel in 20 days China trip. Buffet "just chinese" breakfast.

Good location at the entrance of South Gate of Old Town Lijiang.
Promised transfer from Airport didn`t work, no communication in english possible (they hang up on our phone call from the Airport), poor service, poor breakfast. Confusing: We booked for Pariday Sun Holiday Hotel but had to learn the name is Chateau l`Act at site, not helpful when arriving in the night by taxi.

The rooms were excellent and very traditional in appearance with western facilities. Great location for exploring the Old Town of Lijiang.
The buffet breakfast was OK, and didn't offer many choices.

Beautiful external architecture. On the edge of the old city, close to restaurants, but far from main square and the famous north gate.
Staff did not speak any English. Fortunately one of us spoke Chinese. When we arrived, entire hotel was not heated. Loby doors were wide open, no lights on and freezing. Booked double, gave us twin. Room was freezing, no toilet paper, no mugs, no spoon, no coffee, no milk/creamer. Hotel refused to turn on central heating even though it was snowing (temp -3). One electric heater in room, told by staff it would heat up the room in 20mins. An hour later, we were still freezing, after 4 or 5 attemps, an additional heater was relunctantly given. Given "advise" that if the room was too warm we will get sick going in and out of our room. No assistance with booking tours. On checkout, charged the wrong price and refused to correct it.

The design of the hotel and its location.
The staff at the reception was unfriendly, unhelpful (could not find my booking; I had to insist that I had effectively booked a room with Booked.net for them to look for it) and could hardly speak English! One of the beds was dirty (hair on the blankets). The water closet did not work. The breakfast was awful (lack of taste and quality of food and hot drinks). The business center was always closed. It was impossible to exchange money at the hotel.

The hotel had a beautiful, modern design that was visually appealing. The location was fantastic, with easy access to important landmarks and attractions. the hotel offered a complimentary breakfast that was a great start to the day.
The staff at the reception was lacking in friendliness and helpfulness, and their English skills were quite limited. The cleanliness of the beds was also a concern, as there were hairs on the blankets.
